Yota just announced its plans to abandon WiMAX and start deploying LTE right away. The switch was not unexpected, but the timing is more aggressive than I would have expected. It makes sense however as Yota is aggressively building out its network now. Moving to LTE sooner rather than later will make the transition cheaper and easier.

What if you can choose how much downlink and uplink bandwidth you get? In Denmark, WiMAX subscribers at SkyLine can do so.
