Market research, financial analysis and consulting on wireless technologies and services

Welcome to what we hope is the first of many conversations with leaders in the wireless industry, conversations in which we will dig deeper into some of the most challenging top-of-mind topics. These conversations will not be about promoting a solution or a technology per se, but rather about reflecting on what goes on in our space, uncovering new ways to think about the latest developments, and brainstorming about what we can expect to see next.If would like to suggest other topics or guests, or have any feedback, let me know.

Stephen Rayment, CTO and co-founder of BelAir Networks, is our first guest. I’ve known Stephen for several years and it has always been a pleasure talking to him because his is one of the most inquisitive, insightful minds in the industry.

In this conversation, we discuss the role of the cable operators in helping mobile operators address the increase in data usage that they are seeing among smartphone, tablet and laptop users, and that it is causing congestion. We look at this from a network infrastructure viewpoint, and more specifically focus on Wi-Fi offload and small cells.

You can read the transcript of my conversation with Stephen here, or you can download the recording in MP3 (6MB)  or WAV (7MB)  format.
