Apparently that's possible -- and it is not at all a bad idea. Telekomsel in Indonesia has announced an unlimited Skype plan priced at slightly less than three dollars per month. Why pay for something you can get for free anyway, you can get for free anyway with your data plan? You would not, if you have a multi-GB data plan. But the untapped market for data subscribers -- now that all the deep-pocketed early-users have their fancy iPhones and Android devices -- is among those who are not willing to pay $30+ per month

Yota is probably the fastest growing WiMAX operator today. A few months after launch, it has reached the 200,000 subscriber mark in early October, and has become EBIDTA positive.

Emerging markets are not just a major driver for WiMAX these days. Increasingly, they are moving away from duplicating models that dominate in developed countries (and that many WiMAX operators there follow as well) to create truly innovative models, that are based on the specific dynamics of the markets where they operate.

Along with its subscriber numbers, Yota disclosed some interesting data on their subscribers’ usage profiles. Within three months, the operator has noticed a rapid shift towards mobility.
